Calling All Patriots! Revolution looms on our horizon! The tyranny of the British Empire will not stand! We must organize to defend. It's time to rise up and join the revolution!

The World Turned Upside Down is a fast paced megagame of political unrest, international conspiracy, and the American Revolution. 60 players will take on the roles of famous lawmakers, generals, and spies of the period. Choose sides and guide your colony toward loyalty or rebellion. Your choices will decide the fate of America. The world will never be the same...

Players will become one of the famous figures of history in either the glorious British Empire or in the rebellious thirteen Colonies of America. In each round players decide which role is more important for them to fill at that time. You could begin your revolution in Congress, helping sway opinion (and funds) to your side. Soon afterwards you may be called back to your home to defend it as a Commander in the Continental Army. You decide how to best use your time throughout the game.

WHAT IS A MEGAGAME?

Megagames are large-scale gaming events full of player interaction. More than 50 players will play out an in-depth, immersive game in an five-hour event. Each person will take on an individual role crucial to the success of their team. Every decision matters.

Megagames are all about player empowerment. Negotiation, spontaneity and creative solutions are part of what make megagames exciting. Game Masters, called Control, will be on hand to help with rules and structure as well as to also allow you to stretch the boundaries of possibility, creating new scenarios and options that will affect the game as a whole.

Megagames are large narrative events. All players will play in the same world as a part of the same story, but will each see a different perspective. Your place in the story will change the way you view events and make decisions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I've never played a megagame before. Is it hard to get started?

Not at all! Megagames have only recently taken off in the US, so you're in good company. Most megagames are unique experiences, so veteran megagame players will be learning this particular game's mechanics and story details along with you.

Do I have to know anything about the American Revolution ahead of time?

Only that it happened! The game is designed with history in mind so you may discover interesting things along the way. This is also a megagame, so you'll be the one rewriting history as you see fit!

How historically accurate is this game?

We based certain events and game elements off of key moments in the American Revolution. By playing the game you may find out some interesting facts that you may not have been aware of. We've also taken steps to capture the emotion of the American Revolution through the gameplay and mechanics. Ultimately, the players have control of how the game plays out, so major events will not always play out the way it did in reality.

Can I be on the same team as my buddies?

Sure you can! Gather your crew and agree on a team name. When each person buys their ticket, be sure they add the team name they want to be a part of and we'll make sure you're all on the same side. You can also buy all team player tickets in one purchase and we'll make sure all ticket holders get placed on the same team.

Do I have to have a team to play?

Of course not! There are plenty of roles that need to be filled and megagamers are universally very nice people.

How many people can be on the same team?

In The World Turned Upside Down team sizes are variable. Each Colony will have a unique size based on their historical impact. Simply let us know how many people you're planning to have on your team and we'll make sure your team is kept together in one form or another.

What's the best way to get to the venue?

Cars are cool, but public transportation is just as easy! The Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) goes directly to Smithtown and is a short walk away from the venue. If the weather turns nasty we'll organize some shuttling to and from the train and the venue. If you are driving there is plenty of free parking in the church lot.
